NEB Screening Map
Website & Platform DesignDevelopment & BuildAI & Innovation
The situation
The National Emergency Briefing (NEB) is a UK-based climate and environmental initiative working to raise awareness and influence policy through public engagement. As part of a new campaign, they were preparing to launch a film and drive nationwide screenings.
The challenge was simple: They needed awareness but more importantly, they needed a way for people to take action.
There was no system in place to register screenings, visualise activity, connect people, or understand the scale of engagement. They had the idea. They didn't have the infrastructure to support it.

- Deliverable
- User-driven screening map
- Scope
- National & international
The goal
- Allow users to register film screenings
- Display those screenings on a live, interactive map
- Enable communication between organisers
- Give the NEB team full visibility and control
- Scale nationally (and internationally)

Not just a website.
A user-driven system.
The approach

We approached this as a system first, not a design project.
Working closely with the NEB team, we mapped:
The user journey (from submission to screening)
The moderation process
The admin workflow
The underlying data structure

Only once that was clear did we begin building.
From there, we layered in:
Interactive mapping
User submission flows
Admin approval systems
Anonymous messaging between users
International pin support
Map clustering for scale
Because the structure was clear from the outset, we were able to:
Move quickly
Fix issues efficiently
Add new features without breaking the system
Build something that would hold over time
Before & after
Before
An idea with no infrastructure
No visibility of engagement
No system for participation
After
A live, scalable platform
Clear visibility of nationwide activity
A self-reinforcing system driving more engagement
The outcome
Within weeks of launch:
- Over 500 user-submitted screenings were registered
- The NEB team had a clear, real-time view of activity
- Awareness increased organically as users could see momentum building
- More people were encouraged to host screenings themselves

The platform didn't just support the campaign. It amplified it.
This project shows what's possible when you combine clear thinking, modern development approaches, and practical use of AI and tooling.
